Savoy Saccharum awarded by "Green Key" 2017
The Savoy Saccharum has been honoured with the “Green Key 2017” Award.
At the award ceremony event, which took place in Funchal on 2nd June, the Savoy Saccharum, received the International Environmental Award “The Green Key”.
"The Green Key" is an award that recognizes and rewards the hospitality and catering establishments worldwide for their good practices in the area of environmental and social sustainability. It is an initiative created by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), which in Portugal is coordinated by the Blue Flag Association of Europe (ABAE).
The Green Key award, which is synonymous with Sustainable Tourism, is attributed by a national jury that evaluates “in loco” establishments that stand out for their development in environmental responsibility and sustainability through the promotion of efficient management of natural resources, recycling of waste, use of eco-friendly cleaning products, preference for food products from local and organic farming and the promotion of outdoor activities.
This year in which the United Nations (UN) declared 2017 as the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development, the Savoy Saccharum, is recognized and rewarded for its good environmental and social practices and now proudly holds this much sought after "Green Key" award.

For the second consecutive year, the HolidayCheck hotel booking and travel website has distinguished the Savoy Saccharum with the HolidayCheck Award 2017, for surpassing the expectations of our discerning guests with magnificent facilities and excellent service, which is reflected in numerous positive reviews. Only 10 hotels on Madeira Islands have been awarded this distinction, making us tremendously proud of the recognition.
